Our First Video Attempt

For Mike's birthday two weeks ago, Jessi's parents gave us a video camera. They seem to think that Jessi will keep looking good enough during this pregnancy to allow Mike to record her ever growing tummy. We'll see about that one. We have recorded a short clip (make sure to turn off the music at the bottom of our blog to hear our thrilling conversation) that will show you how busy Jessi's days are.

Tho, we must add, Jessi has started a part-time job and does more than just lay around the house all day! She's working this summer for San Juan County, maintaining volunteer databases for the Tres Rios National High School Rodeo which is being held in Farmington this year. It's a huge deal, with people competing and volunteering from all over the South. She only works from 9-1, so she's still able to take Mike to work and eat lunch with him. She has really enjoyed being able to spend so much time with Mike.
Mike has been busy with his summer project at ConocoPhillips, and is starting to feel comfortable with all of the responsibilities he has. His mentor hasn't been as personable or helpful as we had hoped, but Mike has found other great resources around the office and feels positive about where his project is heading.
We still miss our family and Butte friends terribly! We hope this Memorial Day is good for each of you!

Happy Birthday to Michael

Today is Mike's 26th birthday! We had our big celebrations with family on Friday and Saturday, so tonight will just be a fun, relaxing night with the two of us enjoying each others company.
We had our last final on Thursday morning, and left immediately after for Utah. We were so excited to get to spend the weekend with our families. We got to do some fun Mother's Day things for our mom's, and some neat things for Mike's birthday. Friday we went with Jessi's family to Tucano's, a brazillian steakhouse, and if you've never been to one - whoo buddy are you missing out!!! All you can eat meat, meat and more meat. Saturday Mike worked with his brothers on his mom's new garden, tilling the mulch and building a fence so Judy's chickens won't get into the garden. We had lots of fun with our family. Sunday morning we started our journey to Farmington, New Mexico. It was a beautiful day for driving and we made really good time. Farmington is a beautiful city! Jessi's been surprised at how big Farmington is (compared to Butte). It has two Walmarts, dozens of small shopping centers, several nice sit-down-restaurants, and a Target! She's in heaven. Mike's really excited about the "world class" fly-fishing and outdoor activities. For now we are living in a 4 bedroom house until the landlord has an apartment open up; although we're not in a rush because the home we're in is gorgeous. Jessi can't wait to be in a home of her own someday. Our first day here, Jessi lay in the back yard reading and burned something terrible! She forgot her skin hasn't seen the sun in over two years and it was sure to burn like crazy!
Jessi's pregnancy has been going well, she still gets quite sick and is trying to deal with all the new feelings (physically and emotionally) that she's got. We'll be getting to a doctor in the next couple of weeks and if we get any more pictures we will post them quickly!

It Looks Just Like Mike

Mike and Jessi went in for their first ultrasound with Dr. Sironi today, and got three pictures. The baby was very active, wiggling and moving, and it's heartbeat was strong. Dr. Sironi measured 174 heart beats per minute, and baby is 2 centimeters long. You can see in the photos, it's not shy, it was spread-eagle! Jessi hopes that means we'll have an easy time finding out later if it's a boy or girl. And yes, we do plan on finding out as soon as we possibly can. Jessi wants to be able to call the baby by it's name, instead of just calling it "the baby".
In other news... Mike and Jessi are almost done with school! Jessi has 2 finals to take, and Mike has 4, all next week. The moment we are done with our last final, we are leaving Butte for the balmy weather of Farmington, New Mexico. Mike has an internship there with ConocoPhillips and will start work May 12th. We'll be heading through Utah and plan to stop for a couple of days to visit some special soon-to-be first time grandparents (both sets)! With Jessi not having a job anymore, she's been able to get a lot of the packing done already. Her planning (and over-planning) have helped make the task seem easy. We're still not quite sure where we'll be living, but we're trusting the Lord (and the landlord) to find us a good place to be.
